Healthcare and social media

Have you been keeping up to date with news regarding the health and social care bill?

This week The Guardian has been liveblogging the House of Lords debates as they happen, on its NHS Reforms Blog

There's a useful summary of key points raised at the close of the live blog - from the CQC's definition of Andrew Lansley's HealthWatch scheme, to some really detailed stuff like  amendment 220ZB (there's a link to the full amendment in the article) which - while crucial to the debate - isn't something that the television news would have to cover in a bulletin (maybe on a news magazine programme rather than the headlines).

For business owners any proposed NHS reforms will be important - since a healthy workforce is obviously a productive one. Workplace health will necessarily be affected if, for instance, the changes to service provision mean that the way they are accessed changes radically - or even in smaller ways.

One of the biggest changes of course will be that there will be wider use of private companies in providing NHS services - we'll cover more of this on the blog as this progresses. But for now, it's still just a bill and a debate.
